Biography

Dr. Philip Baptiste is the departmental director of Adventist-Laymen Services and Industries (ASI) for the North American Division (NAD) and the Secretary/Treasurer of ASI. In this role, he provides financial oversight, coordinates strategic planning, and helps direct the administrative activities, event planning, and overall operation of ASI in the North American Division.
Before serving at the NAD, Philip was a General Conference missionary for four years, serving as the Special Assistant to the President for the East-Central Africa Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He coordinated strategic planning, leadership development, assessment, media, communications, Mission to the Cities, and ASI in eleven countries in this role.
Philip Baptiste is a strategic communication and leadership expert with a unique ability to train and develop leaders for excellence. He facilitates and helps lead churches, conferences, and non-profit organizations through the strategic-planning process and is a certified 360 Leadership Assessment Coach for the Center for Creative Leadership. An ordained minister, he has also served as an adjunct professor for homiletics and preaching at the Adventist University of Africa.
Before entering into General Conference mission service, Philip Baptiste served as the communication director for the Central States Conference and associate youth director for the Rocky Mountain and Washington Conferences. He also served as lead pastor for more than ten years in cities of Denver and Colorado Springs.
Born in Canada, he is the son of a pastor and the youngest of three boys. Philip graduated from Andrews University, obtaining an Associate of Science in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Arts in Religion, and a master’s degree from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. Also, he holds a Doctor of Ministry degree in Communication and Strategic Leadership from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. Philip recently earned a second master's degree in Strategic Communications from American University in Washington, D.C. And he is completing a third master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Philip Baptiste is a dynamic communicator, a professional event planner, a youth ministry expert, a strategic planning consultant, a professional organizational and relationship coach, and a certified family life educator. In his spare time, he enjoys beach vacations, playing the piano, traveling, and cooking. A sought-after speaker, Philip has been the keynote presenter at events and conferences around the world.
